Gaming on a Cruise
Over spring break I went on a five day cruise with my parents and my younger sister. My family plays games on a regular basis. My sister is willing to play anything. My parents tend to like the quicker rules light games such as Diamonds or party games like Happy Salmon. This presented me with an interesting packing situation. What games could I bring with me that would give me plenty of play time while having a small footprint? I ended up packing the following items,
Four decks of playing cards
30 dice in a dice bag
A notebook for keeping score
A copy of Friday
A copy of Red7
A book of playing card games
A book of dice games
Initially I was not sure whether I had brought enough but like always I over packed. I didn't need to bring Friday because it is a solo game and I rarely had any
time to myself. Red7 is a great filler card game but it can be a little harder to teach. We actually spent the most time playing various dice games that were from the book. A few of the games included were Farkle, Liar's Dice, and Pig. I suppose the moral of the story here is to never underestimate the versatility of a few decks of cards and some dice.
